The Short Answer
Yes, we can work from an AI-generated concept. Send the image along with your logo in vector form and your brand colors. Our design team treats the AI output as a creative brief: it tells us the pattern character you want, the color relationships you are drawn to, where graphics should sit, and how bold or subtle the design should feel.
What we do not do is print the AI file. Every Butcher Golf order is cut-and-sew dye-sublimation, which means the artwork is printed onto the fabric before the garment is sewn. That requires artwork built at garment scale, panel by panel, with patterns that repeat correctly and align across seams. That file has to be constructed by a designer.
The result is usually better than the concept: same idea, real fabric, real proportions, and details that hold up in person rather than only on screen.
An AI Image Is A Picture, Not A Pattern
An AI-generated shirt image is a single flattened picture at a fixed resolution. It has no separate layers, no defined repeat, no Pantone-referenced colors, and no relationship to the pattern pieces a garment is actually built from.
Production artwork needs all of those things:
- Front, back, sleeve, collar, cuff, and placket panels laid out at true scale
- Patterns built as seamless repeats so they continue across seams
- Color values that can be matched to your brand rather than approximated
- Logos as clean vector artwork with outlined fonts, not blurred pixels
- Print direction and pattern scale decided deliberately per panel
- Placement that accounts for how the garment sits on a real body
AI images also tend to invent details that do not exist on our garments: separate stitched collar edges, contrast piping, buttons on women's styles, or fabric that reads like cotton. Our women's polos are buttonless V-necks, our collars are self-fabric, and the fabric is a lightweight performance poly/spandex knit. Part of rebuilding the concept is translating it onto the product we actually make.
Two Ways To Start
Path A — You already have a concept
You generated something you like and want us to make it real. Send the image, tell us what must be preserved, and flag anything you are flexible on. We will rebuild it as production artwork on the correct garment, adjust anything that will not translate to fabric, and show you the design for approval.
This path works well when you have a clear point of view about pattern scale, color placement, or a specific graphic treatment you want to see.
Path B — You have a brand but no concept yet
You do not need to have designed anything. Send your logo, colors, and how the apparel will be used, and our team develops custom directions built around your identity. Most customers start here.
Either way the process is the same after that: you review, you approve, and we produce and deliver in approximately three weeks after artwork approval.
What To Send With Your AI Concept
- The AI-generated image at the largest size you can export
- Your logo as vector EPS, SVG, AI, or vector PDF with fonts outlined
- Alternate logo versions: icon-only, one-color, reverse, stacked
- Brand colors as Pantone or HEX values
- A note on what you want kept and what can change
- Product type: polos, quarter-zips, or both
- Approximate quantity and any date you need to hit

What Usually Changes
Expect the intent to survive and some specifics to shift. The most common adjustments we make when translating an AI concept:
- Pattern scale. AI concepts often render patterns far larger or tighter than they read on a real garment. We tune the scale so it looks intentional at arm's length.
- Seam alignment. Patterns are rebuilt as true repeats so they continue cleanly across side seams, shoulders, and sleeves.
- Logo clarity. AI-rendered logos are almost always distorted. We replace them with your real vector mark.
- Color discipline. Approximate colors are replaced with your documented brand values so the finished apparel matches the rest of your identity.
- Construction reality. Collars, plackets, cuffs, and women's V-necks are drawn as they are actually built, using color blocking where the concept implied contrast panels.
Why Cut-And-Sew, Not Embroidery
Butcher Golf specializes in cut-and-sew dye-sublimated printing. We do not do embroidery or decorate blank garments. The artwork is printed into the fabric before the garment is assembled, which is exactly why an AI concept full of all-over pattern, color-blocked panels, and multiple graphic placements is achievable at all. A decorated blank cannot deliver that.

Start Your Design- Can Butcher Golf produce a polo I designed with AI?

- Does using an AI concept slow the project down?
- No. Delivery is approximately three weeks after artwork approval either way. A clear concept plus clean logo files often speeds up the first design round because the direction is already defined.
- Is there a fee to rebuild an AI concept?
- Design work is included in the standard process. If your files need extensive cleanup or vectorization, we will explain that and confirm anything additional before the work begins.
